Many people are familiar with FL10. As the prototype of the cab of Sinotruk HOWO, China had imported many FL10s for various purposes in the early days, from tractors to fire trucks to bridge inspection vehicles. FL10 was the main heavy truck product promoted by Volvo Trucks in China in the 1990s. Friends living in Shanghai must have seen the protagonist today. This FL10 tow truck was parked at the entrance of the Puxi Tunnel of Yan'an Road Tunnel for a long time a few years ago. Unlike the common imported chassis tow trucks today, it is a 6x6 hard goods.

Heavy Truck Network introduced the FL10 tractor product in 2016. For details, click: HOWO prototype. The Volvo FL10 truck was once all over the country. In fact, when Volvo Trucks launched the FL10 heavy truck series in the summer of 1985, it just filled the gap between the medium-duty FL series and the flagship heavy-duty F series. In that year, the new cab used when Volvo FL10 was launched made many people shine. The width reached 2.5 meters, which was considered a very wide cab. And unlike most tow trucks now using daytime cabs, this FL10 6x6 tow truck uses a sleeping cab.

Since it is an all-wheel drive model, the front face is different from the ordinary FL10. The headlights are placed on the bumper, and the place where the headlights were originally installed has become two stamping marks. Interestingly, some engineering version models of HOWO also borrowed this design.

The F in FL10 stands for Forward cab, L stands for Low level cab, and 10 means the engine displacement is 10 liters. The Intercooler below means supercharged intercooler.

6x6 all-wheel drive chassis, with a shorter wheelbase than the current 6x4 tow truck, looks very compact

The Volvo D10 diesel engine with its iconic green cylinder block can still be seen through the gap, and the thick leaf springs on the front axle also show that it is not a vegetarian.

The relatively rare Volvo front-wheel drive axle was used in an era when vacuum tires were not yet popular, and all imported cars entering the country used steel wire tires.

The ground clearance is relatively high. You can tell from the height of the foot pedals. After all, it is an all-wheel drive chassis, which can cope with complex road conditions.

The rear axle is a very common Volvo wheel-reducing drive axle.

Unfortunately, such a well-maintained tow truck still cannot escape the mandatory scrapping regulations...This FL10 can no longer be seen in the Yan'an Road Tunnel.
